"Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?"

Series: The Fight: The Year of Prayer Passage: Luke 14:1–35

Sunday Sermon: June 3rd, 2018

Our enemy delights in our ineffective witness so he lays religious traps for us. We all are susceptible. We must fight all four traps.
Trap 1: Finger Pointing
Trap 2: Big People
Trap 3: Cocooning
Trap 4: Assuming

8 Steps Out of the Abyss:
Step 1 - We admit that we love to judge other people. Our thankless grumbling is a key observable symptom.
Step 2 – We realize that we detest mercy… for others.
Step 3 – We begin to apply teaching and rebuke to ourselves only.
Step 4 – We repent. We are ready to have God remove all these defects of attitude and character.
Step 5 – We embrace the belief that we are, and will always be, experts at sinning. Therefore, we must become heart-felt repenters.
Step 6 – We are seeking through prayer and meditation to make a conscious effort to consider others better than ourselves.
Step 7 - Embrace the state of grateful astonishment in knowing God.
Step 8 – We open our lives, take up our cross, sacrifice, to reach a world in need of the Savior.
