Sunday, March 23rd

This past Sunday we continued our series on the family of God and talked about how we are "together forever." We get the church family right now, but this family is also with us for eternity.

Because we are together forever we need to learn how to be united and there are more resources in the Christian faith than anywhere else to become united as Jew-Gentile, Male-Female, Slave-Free and Black-White.

Sin causes two paradoxical ways that we relate to one another: with prideful overconfidence or with insecurity. This is because we find our identity in the opinions of others, and are thus always using others instead of serving them. The gospel reminds us that we are both humble (sinners saved by grace) and emboldened (sons/daughters who are loved by God).

Questions to ask your son/daughter

  1. Do you have more Christian or nonChristian friends?
  2. Is there a difference between a Christian vs. nonChristian friend? If so, what?
  3. How does the gospel lead us to be both humble and emboldened at the same time? How will that effect us as friends? family members? students? children?
