"Please Lord, Make Me Smart"

Series: And Yet Jehoiachin Lives Passage: 1 Kings 3

“And you felt secure in your wickedness and said, ‘no one sees me,’ your wisdom and your knowledge, they have deluded you; for you have said in your heart, ‘I am, and there is no one besides me.’” Isaiah 47:10
“[The fear of the Lord is] that affectionate reverence, by which the child of God bends himself humbly and carefully to his Father’s law.” Charles Bridges

What is the way to wisdom? What is the fear of the LORD?

1. Humility, Proverbs 1:29-30; 2:1-5; 15:33; 22:4.

2. Obedience, Psalm 19:7-11; 34:11; 111:10; 2 Chronicles 19:7.

3. A view of God as He is, as He has revealed Himself – not as we wish Him to be, but for who He is, Isaiah 6:1-7; Jeremiah 10:6-7; Malachi 1:11-14; Romans 11:33-36; Acts 17:24-31.
“The most profound fact in all of human knowledge is the sentence, ‘God is.’” A.W. Tozer

4. A right emotional response to God: dread, awe, love, trust, humility, obedience, Isaiah 6:1-6; 8:11-15; Luke 12:4-5.

5. The ever present sense of His presence that results in joyful obedience, Genesis 37; Psalm 139.
